Lead Guitar Primer

Use this page to build your skills as a lead guitarist. These simple exercises are designed to ease the beginner guitarist into the role of playing lead guitar to a backing track. Each backing track is accompanied by a full set of notation showing you what the band is playing. This gives the student a better idea of how their part fits into a band environment.

Read the top line if you are accustomed to reading manuscript or the second line if you prefer tablature. Be warned that tablature can be ambiguous when reading rhythms, combining your tablature with the rhythmic symbols on the manuscript will help.
